About me and my philosophy
Staying grounded and compassionate but aiming high
I have always been very passionate about science and academia since my childhood. As far back as I can remember, inspired by people around me, I have always wanted to contribute towards tackling societal problems, albeit in a small way. My personal and professional trajectory has allowed me to do exactly that. After completing my doctoral studies in fluid mechanics, I gradually moved into a more applied branch of flow and transport in porous media, driven by key technological challenges in the context of environmental problems.
I love interacting with young curious, passionate minds, and I am extremely committed to equality, diversity, and inclusion, with a zero-tolerance policy towards any kind of discrimination. I am deeply touched by the problems faced by women leaders in top positions. Being a minority woman myself, my personal motivation is to make a significant contribution towards bringing about a socio-cultural change starting with my own research team. I am dedicated to promoting scientific curiosity and fostering a positive, compassionate work environment for all.

My trajectory
I completed my Ph.D. (2016) from Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, India, in collaboration with School of Aeronautics, Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, Spain. Since the first time I visited Spain in 2011 as part of my Ph.D. program, I have gradually adopted the culture. Today, I am officially Spanish, born and raised in India, but in my heart, I feel truly nomadic and global. I do not fit into any specific box, and yet I fit into many.
After completing my studies, I held several postdoctoral research positions over a span of 8 years:
-
Postdoctoral reseacher, Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (2016-2017);
-
Postdoctoral researcher, Université libre de Bruxelles, Belgium (2017-2020);
-
Marie Curie individual fellow, School of Civil Engineering, Politécnica de Madrid, Spain (2020-2022);
-
Postdoctoral researcher, Spanish National Research Council, Institute of Environmental Assessment and Water Research (CSIC-IDAEA), Barcelona, Spain (2022-2023).
-
Postdoctoral researcher, School of Civil Engineering, Politécnica de Madrid, Spain (2023-2024);
-
Environmental consultant at a private consultancy, Amphos21 (2025).
In 2025, I started working as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering and Analytical Chemistry, Faculty of Chemistry, Universitat de Barcelona.
Over the years, I have developed a strong network of scientific collaborations across Europe and United States. My approach is multi-disciplinary combining numerical simulations and mathematical modelling. I also collaborate with experimental research groups at Universitat de Barcelona in addition to Université de Lausanne (Switzerland) and Université libre de Bruxelles (Belgium). In the near future, I am starting a new collaboration with University of Oxford (U.K.).

My aim is to establish a research group based on my own ideals and scientific interests, where scientific curiosity is encouraged, creative ideas are nurtured in a conducive environment, and project goals are pursued with dedication.
